Make your account more secure

Keeping your crypto wallet safe is one of the first and most important steps to take after setting it up. As the crypto world continues to expand, hackers and scammers are constantly finding new ways to target users and steal funds. By taking a few simple security steps early on, you can protect your digital assets and avoid costly mistakes.

Here are some practical safety tips to help you secure your account and lower the risk of hacking or theft.

  • Use a strong, unique password:

Your password is the first line of defense for your crypto wallet. Use a combination of uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters. Avoid using personal details like birthdays, names, or common words.

It’s best to create a password that’s long and unique — something you don’t reuse anywhere else. A password manager can help you safely store and generate strong passwords, so you don’t have to remember them all.

  • Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) for login:

Turning on 2FA for login adds an extra layer of protection every time you access your account. It requires a verification code from Google Authenticator app in addition to your password, keeping your account secure even if someone gets hold of your login details.

  • Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) for transactions:

2FA is mandatory for all transactions to keep your funds safe. Every withdrawal, transfer, or trade requires a verification code to confirm the action.

This added step ensures that even if someone gains access to your account, they cannot move or spend your assets without your authorization — providing strong protection against unauthorized activity.

  • Lock your account if you notice suspicious activity:

If you ever suspect that your account may have been compromised or notice any unusual activity, take action immediately. You can lock your account through the Support section by selecting Report security issue in your Safe2transact wallet or through our online Contact us form (select Security -> Suspicious activity -> Lock account topic).

Locking your account helps prevent unauthorized access and protects your funds while the issue is being investigated.

Additional security recommendations:

  •  Secure your email account: use a strong and unique password for the email linked to your Safe2transact account. Your email is often the key to account recovery, so keeping it protected is essential.

  • Keep your account details private: never share your email address, login details, or any other personal information related to your account with anyone. Safe2transact will never ask for your password or security codes.

  • Avoid using public Wi-Fi: public networks are often unsecured and can expose your data to hackers. For safer trading, use a secure connection — such as your home network or a connection from your smartphone.

  • Log out when not in use: always log out of your account manually, especially if you’re stepping away from your computer or using a shared device.

  • Turn off autofill and saved passwords: avoid using your browser’s autofill or password-saving features, as they can make your account vulnerable if your device is compromised.

  • Use trusted anti-virus software: install reputable, up-to-date anti-virus software and perform regular system scans to detect and remove any potential threats. Paid and actively maintained versions are strongly recommended.

  • Be cautious on social media: stay alert for scams or fake profiles in online crypto groups and chat rooms. Always verify the sender, link, and destination page before clicking — if something seems suspicious, it probably is.
